DEVELOPMENT: Riding the Crest of the Wnt Signaling Wave
Paul Trainor and Robb Krumlauf
Formation of the neural crest is a crucial step during the embryonic development of vertebrates, but the signals that direct neural crest induction are largely unknown. In their Perspective, Trainor and Krumlauf discuss new findings (García-Castro et al.) revealing that Wnt6 expression in the surface ectoderm directs neural crest induction.
