IMMUNOLOGY:
Giving Inhibitory Receptors a Boost

Shih-Yao Lin and Jean-Pierre Kinet

Intravenous injection of immunoglobulin (IVIG), a mainstay treatment for patients with antibody deficiency, has also proved to have anti-inflammatory effects in autoimmune patients. In their Perspective, Lin and Kinet explain new work (Samuelsson et al.) that provides a mechanism for the anti-inflammatory effect of IVIG.
