SAN DIEGO, CALIFORNIA--An unmanned Predator B airplane provided firefighters with up-to-the-minute data on the many conflagrations in southern California last week, helping in the coordination of firefighting efforts that spared many lives and structures--including the venerable Palomar Observatory.
