Mouse With Human Chromosome Should Boost Down Syndrome Research

On page 2033 of this issue of Science, researchers report creating a strain of mice with a nearly complete copy of human chromosome 21. The strain's unusual genome mimics the genetic makeup of people with Down syndrome, the most common inherited form of mental retardation.
