Culture Systems for Hepatitis C Virus in Sight at Last

The inability to grow this widespread pathogen in laboratories has delayed the development of more-effective drugs and a vaccine; now two labs this week published evidence online of cell culture systems that can grow relatively high levels of HCV, one of which appeared in Science (www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/1114016).
