COLD SPRING HARBOR, NEW YORK--At the Biology of Genomes meeting here, 11 to 15 May, genomicists reported on a new way to distinguish ancient DNA from that of more recent hangers-on that was successfully used to sequence nuclear genes of cave bears from the Pleistocene era (see www.sciencemag.org/cgi/content/abstract/1113485).
