Drillers aboard the JOIDES Resolution in the mid-North Atlantic thought they'd reach the legendary Mohorovicic discontinuity, the boundary between the thin veneer of Earth's crust and the 2900-kilometer-thick mantle, last month. But the Moho was a no-show.
