Scary Arctic Ice Loss? Blame the Wind

SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA--More than 11,500 earth scientists from around the world gathered 13 to 17 December at the fall American Geophysical Union meeting. A study presented at the meeting suggests that a natural, temporary shift in the wind may have been largely to blame for the recent shrinkage of the Arctic ice pack.
