Coral Ages Show Hawaiian Temples Sprang From Political Revolution

A preliminary study of temples on Maui, described on page 102 of this issue of Science, suggests that the progression from feuding chiefs to kingdom may have happened within a single generation, around 1600 C.E., just as legends suggest.
