Yoda Would Be Proud: Valves for Land Plants

Stomata are structures in the plant epidermis that control the exchange of gases between the plant and its environment. In his Perspective, Sack discusses new work (Bergmann et al.) that identifies the kinase YODA as a key regulator of the formation of stomata in the model plant Arabidopsis.
