Hybrid Mosquitoes Suspected in West Nile Virus Spread

On page 1535, genetic analyses of mosquitoes from five continents suggest a controversial explanation for why there have been few human outbreaks of West Nile virus in Europe: U.S. mosquitoes that transmit the virus may be hybrids of two strains.
