House Panel Backs 6% NSF Increase As Other Agencies Struggle

A House spending panel last week approved a 6.2% budget increase for the National Science Foundation, the government's chief funder of nonmedical academic research, while bestowing increases of just 1% on NASA and 2.9% on the Environmental Protection Agency's research programs.
