Drug Deals Diabetes a One-Two Punch

An enzyme called glucokinase regulates two key functions that fail in diabetics: secretion of insulin by the pancreas and production of glucose by the liver. On page 370, molecular pharmacologists describe how a single oral dose of a glucokinase activator caused blood sugar levels in diabetic mice to plummet by half.
