NANOTECHNOLOGY:
Sorting Technique May Boost Nanotube Research

Robert F. Service

Nanotubes' ability to conduct electricity either like metals or like semiconductors, depending on their precise atomic arrangement, has made them the darlings of molecular electronics. Frustratingly, the method used to produce nanotubes creates a jumble of both types, but a new scheme for sorting them may greatly reduce researchers' headaches.
