AGRICULTURE:
Taking the Bite Out of Potato Blight
Glenn Garelik
Late blight, the mold that infested Ireland's potato fields in the 1840s, has spread around the globe--and grown more aggressive than ever. Although much remains to be learned about late blight, such efforts are beginning to pay off as researchers uncover potential vulnerabilities in the pathogen and outline better defense strategies.
