EVOLUTIONARY GENETICS:
Horses Domesticated Multiple Times

Despite extensive archaeological excavations, researchers have not been able to pin down the exact history of where and when horses were first domesticated. Now, on page 474, evolutionary geneticists present new genetic evidence on how wild horses came to be beasts of burden. According to their study, contrary to conventional wisdom, the DNA of modern horses indicates that horses were domesticated independently in a number of different places around the world.
