Neural Crest's Joyride Through the Embryo

During embryonic development, cells known as neural crest make epic journeys, from the back of the developing brain as far as the length of the gut and the ends of developing limbs. Studies of these odysseys suggest that these cells' social behavior--their interactions with their neighbors--have more sway over their final destinies than expected.
