STEM CELLS:
Wisconsin to Distribute Embryonic Cell Lines

Scientists seeking to perform research using embryonic stem cells have been blocked for both proprietary and regulatory reasons. Now the University of Wisconsin, Madison, has announced the creation of a nonprofit research institute to distribute the embryonic stem cell line derived by one of its researchers. But the legislative and regulatory limbo persists and may not be resolved before this summer.
