Salk Institute President to Step Down

LA JOLLA, CALIFORNIA--Last Monday, cell biologist Thomas Pollard announced that he would step down as president of the Salk Institute for Biological Studies next year. The reasons are murky, although trouble for Pollard was evident as early as February, when the institute split his job, leaving him as president but giving the CEO responsibilities to board chair Frederick Rentschler. Pollard himself says he wants to spend more time in his lab.
