Japan Readies Huge Increase in Biotech

TOKYO--Japan's political leaders are piecing together a plan that would nearly double the country's current investment in life sciences research over the next 5 years. The multiagency initiative, which would start next spring, is aimed at bolstering the country's biotechnology industry through support for basic science.
