BEHAVIOR:
Communication Goes Multimodal

Sarah Partan and Peter Marler

Communication depends on the simultaneous receipt of multiple sensory stimuli. The Perspective by Partan and Marler in this week's issue postulates a new classification system for multimodal sensory signals. Combinations of sensory signals are classified according to the behavioral responses they elicit.
