PEDIATRIC VACCINES:
Gates Launches $100 Million Initiative
Dan Ferber
Last week Bill Gates, the chair of Microsoft Corp., gave $100 million to create the Bill and Melinda Gates Children's Vaccine Program. The program will enlist existing international health organizations in a battle to protect children in the developing world against four diseases through its support of vaccine trials, public education, and new funding mechanisms. The donation will fund efforts to improve delivery of existing vaccines rather than to develop new ones.
