Breathalyzer Device Sniffs for Disease

BOSTON--A pair of scientists has developed a machine that, in just minutes, can analyze a puff of breath for the trace gases that signal diabetes, kidney failure, ulcers, and possibly even cancer, they announced at the American Chemical Society meeting here last week. Commercial versions could be available within a few years, providing fast, noninvasive diagnosis.
