Kansas City Institute's Big Plans

The Stowers Institute for Medical Research, a biomedical research organization funded by a wealthy financier, is now taking shape in Kansas City, Missouri. Geneticist Leroy Hood of the University of Washington, Seattle, and Eric Davidson of the California Institute of Technology are helping shape the institute, which will focus on the genetics of development and growth, including cancer. It will concentrate on cutting-edge basic science rather than performing clinical studies.
