Czech Research Review to Leave No Lab Unturned

Czech science officials are expected to announce in the next few weeks a plan to evaluate the country's entire publicly funded R&D workforce, some 30,000 researchers. The review could result in a two-tier university system, with the top tier receiving the lion's share of future university research funds. It is supposed to help cure a long-standing ill in many former East Bloc countries: the poor quality of university research.
