Resurgent Mosquitoes, Dengue in Cuba

An epidemic of dengue fever, a viral disease spread by Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, has reappeared in Santiago, Cuba's second-largest city, and spread to the middle and west of the island. The epidemic has affected as many as 30,000 people; it marks the failure of an Aedes eradication campaign, which the Cuban government had pursued with what public health experts describe as paramilitary zeal.
