CAMBRIDGE, MASSACHUSETTS--Once plagued by side effects and mysterious failures, antisense technologies are now shedding their troubled image. Basic research has uncovered explanations--and solutions--to some of the earlier problems, and antisense drugs have shown promise in early clinical trials against cancer and Crohn's disease.
