Department of Energy: Changes at Brookhaven Shock National Lab System

Last week, Energy Secretary Federico Peña went to Brookhaven National Laboratory, which is celebrating its 50th anniversary. But his visit was far from a festive occasion for lab officials, who were excoriated for their "unacceptable and inexcusable" behavior in dealing with a series of toxic spills and leaks. Peña also announced that he was ending the contract with the lab's operator, Associated Universities Inc.
