Berlin--The rising tide of infectious diseases around the world, coupled with the spread of HIV, have prompted European public health agencies to combine forces in detecting and handling outbreaks that might quickly spread across national borders. Infectious-disease experts have formed "networks of experts" in special fields such as Salmonella, Legionella infections, and HIV/AIDS.
