AVIAN INFLUENZA:
Hybrid Viruses Fail to Spread

Scientists at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention have created potential pandemic viruses that combine genes from a human influenza virus and the H5N1 avian influenza strain and report this week that the hybrid viruses are, at least in ferrets, relatively benign. (Read more.)
