SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA--More than 11,500 earth scientists from around the world gathered 13 to 17 December at the fall American Geophysical Union meeting. Snapshots from the meeting include seismologists' most detailed look ever at an earthquake and a previously unrecognized precursor to the most recent reversal of Earth's magnetic field.
