Global food security will remain a worldwide concern for thenext 50 years and beyond. Recently, crop yield has fallen inmany areas because of declining investments in research andinfrastructure, as well as increasing water scarcity. Climatechange and HIV/AIDS are also crucial factors affecting foodsecurity in many regions. Although agroecological approachesoffer some promise for improving yields, food security in developingcountries could be substantially improved by increased investmentand policy reforms.
