Perspectives

IMMUNOLOGY:
Isomeric Antibodies

Jefferson Foote

Generating an incredibly diverse repertoire of antibodies is not a problem for the humoral immune system. Yet, as Foote comments in his Perspective, the humoral immune system has chosen to broaden its antibody repertoire still further. It turns out that the same antibody can exist as two conformational isomers that bind to structurally different antigens (James et al.).
