AIDS Vaccine Trial Produces Disappointment and Confusion

VaxGen says that when the data from its first-ever real-world test of an AIDS vaccine were broken down into racial groups, the vaccine appeared to have worked in black, Asian, and mixed-race participants. But hours after VaxGen made the data public, AIDS researchers began pasting asterisks and red flags all over the results.
