Terrell A. Vanderah

The telecommunications revolution of the last three decades has led to the proliferation of handheld, wireless devices such as cell phones. In her Perspective, Vanderah highlights the crucial role in this revolution played by certain ceramic materials, which serve as dielectric resonators to store and transfer communication signals. Very few known ceramics have the required properties, posing challenges for materials scientists aiming to deliver improved performance at lower cost.
