MEMBRANE FUSION:
Caught in the Act

Membranes play a crucial role in living cells by dividing the cell into separate compartments where different chemical processes can take place. But membranes must also be able to fuse and exchange their contents in living cells. In his Perspective, Gruner highlights the report by Yang et al., whose model system allows an unprecedented, detailed look at the intermediate structures during the fusion process.
