Can Chemists Assemble a Future for Molecular Electronics?

Pioneers in the field of molecular electronics have a dream: to make chips useful for applications such as cheap, throwaway electronics that silicon can't touch. The solution, many researchers believe, lies in self-assembly, making individual molecular components so that each plugs itself into a structure just where it's needed. After years of making individual devices, researchers are now beginning to tackle that challenge.
