Keith A. Hobson

Tracking populations of migrating animals is laborious, particularly using traditional mark-and-recapture strategies. In his Perspective, Hobson details new work (Rubenstein et al.) that describes a method based on the distribution of 2H and 13C in the environment and in birds' feathers for tracking the migration patterns and intermixing of black-throated blue warbler populations.
