A Semiconductor Giant Ramps Up Its R&D

HILLSBORO, OREGON--Semiconductor giant Intel has a reputation for favoring product-oriented development work and, when it does conduct long-term research, of keeping the results quiet. Now, looking to establish a new reputation as a research leader, Intel officials have played up recent achievements to media and industry analysts. Many computer scientists applaud Intel's new approach.
