Noblesse Oblige

Pekka Pyykkö

Noble gases were long believed not to form any covalent bonds. This belief was shattered in 1962, when the first xenon compound was made. In this Perspective, Pyykkö describes recent syntheses of covalently bonded noble gas compounds, including the bulk gold-xenon complex reported by Seidel and Seppelt.
