DRUG ABUSE: Cocaine Exposure and Children: The Meaning of Subtle Effects
Barry M. Lester, Linda L. LaGasse, Ronald Seifer
Lester et al. report the results of a meta-analysis, which shows that prenatal cocaine exposure is associated with statistically significant but subtle effects on child IQ and language performance. Even these subtle effects will result in a substantial number of children annually who will need additional special education services at a considerable financial burden to society.
