PerspectivesGalaxy clusters often contain hot intergalactic gas that emits x-rays. In his Perspective, Fabian discusses recent results by Lieu et al. [Astrophys. J. 458, L5 (1996)] showing an unusually high amount of x-radiation at lower energies. This could be the signature of a cooler component to the intergalactic gas, which may require reexamination of current cluster models.
