Ethylene Production in Fading Vanda Orchid Blossoms

The production of ethylene by fading blooms of Vanda Miss Agnes Joaquim, determined quantitatively by the perchlorate manometric procedure, was correlated with the degree of fading. A peak production of over 3400 µl per kilogram hour was obtained when 97 percent of the blooms were faded.
