Correction (19 October 2006): On page 6, there are a few typographical errors in the equations in the middle paragraph. The paragraph should read as follows:

A Gaussian (normal) seasonal distribution curve can be fitted as a quadratic function on a logarithmic scale (log({expected number on day xi})= i = 0 + 1xi + 2x2i)). However, the following re-parameterization gave lower autocorrelations in the MCMC simulations: "mean" = = -1/(22), "peak" = = 0 + 1 + 22, and "standard deviation" = = 1/-22.
