The supplemental data for this paper are provided as compressed archives, to be downloaded and unpacked on the user's computer. To access the supplemental data, please use the following procedure:

  1. Create a temporary folder on your local hard drive.
  2. Click the right-hand mouse button (Windows) or click and hold down the mouse button (Macintosh) on one of the links below (choose the appropriate link for your platform). Choose the "Save link as" or "Save target as" option. Navigate to the temporary folder you created and save the compressed archive to your local hard drive.
  3. Uncompress the archive into the temporary folder you've created, using decompression software such as WinZip (for Windows) or Aladdin Stuffit (for Windows or Macintosh).

After decompression, you will have a set of eight folders, corresponding in number to the references to supplemental data in the text of the article. Files with the extension ".doc" can be opened using Microsoft Word; files with the extension ".txt" are plain-text files that can be opened with any text editor or word processing program; files with the extension ".xls" or with no filename extension can be opened using Microsoft Excel; and filenames with the extension ".gif" are image files that can be viewed in any Web browser.
