  • Movie S1
De novo formation of TNTs. Two hours after plating, PC12 cells were imaged by time-lapse bright-field microscopy (see Material and Methods). The movie sequence was acquired at 2 frames/s and covers 4 min.

  • Movie S2
Unidirectional translocation of an object along TNTs. Two hours after plating, PC12 cells were imaged by time-lapse bright field microscopy (see Material and Methods). The movie sequence was acquired at 1 frame/min and covers 4 min.

  • Movie S3
Transfer of LysoTracker stained organelles between TNT-connected cells. PC12 cells were stained with LysoTracker and analyzed by fluorescence videomicroscopy (see Material and Methods). The movie sequence was acquired at 1 frame/2s and covers 4 min.

  • Movie S4, Movie S5, Movie S6
TNT-based transfer of fluorescent organelles between cells. PC12 cells were stained with DiI and analyzed by fluorescence videomicroscopy (see Material and Methods). Three video sequences were acquired consecutively at 4 frames/s: movie S4 covers 25 s, movie S5 and movie S6 cover 101 s each.

  • Movie S7, Movie S8
TNT-based transfer of fluorescent organelles between cells. PC12 cells were stained with DiI and analyzed by fluorescence videomicroscopy (see Material and Methods). The video sequences were acquired consecutively at 4 frames/s and cover 101 s each. The vesicles corresponding to tracks 2 and 4 are highlighted in movie sequence S7 and those of tracks 1 and 3 in movie sequence S8.
