Death of a Hadal Deep-Sea Bacterium After Decompression

An obligately barophilic bacterium that was recovered from a depth of 10,476 meters in the Pacific Ocean slowly lost colony-forming ability (assayed at 101.3 megapascals and 2°C) during incubation at atmospheric pressure and 0°C. Revised on December 9, 1982
