Concentration oscillations and efficiency: glycolysis

PH Richter and J Ross

The oscillations observed in glycolysis are analyzed from the point of view of efficiency of free energy conversion. It is suggested that the mechanisms generating these oscillations may have evolved in order to reduce the dissipation of free energy.
