Handler in Defense of Science

In a lecture titled "In Defense of Science" at a meeting of the American Iron and Steel Institute in New York on 26 May, National Academy of Sciences president Philip Handler presented a wide-ranging analysis of developments which made the public perceive "science and technology as a modern Janus-a two-faced god."
