To help scientists optimize IgG-based treatments and test their in vivo efficacy, The Jackson Laboratory has developed humanized FcRn mice that express only the human form of FcRn. FcRn, the neonatal Fc receptor for IgG, plays an important role in the half-life of monoclonal antibodies (mAbs) and therefore impacts their efficacy. These humanized FcRn mouse models are particularly useful for testing IgG-based therapies, in part because they more accurately mirror how mAbs would behave in human subjects.
